The NV-3550 is a 5 speed manual rear wheel transmission that came in the Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler (Getrag Design).

The parts descriptions and information apply to Getrag 290, NV1500, 3500 and 3550 gearboxes.

Busted Pistons; Where Could We Go? (01M)

This posting will focus on the molded pistons for the Volkswagen automatic transmission models: 095, 096, 097, 098 (01M, 01N, 01P).

It is more important to focus on the date rather than the model when ordering the pistons for the above mentioned models.

Two piston kits are available:
- Piston Set with Molded Rubber (5 Piston Transmission) 1990 to Early 1994
- Piston Set with Molded Rubber (7 Piston Transmission) Late 1994 and Up

Individual Bonded Pistons:
- 3-4 Clutch K3 1990-E1994 or L1994-Up
- 3-4 Retainer L1994-Up
- 2-4 Clutch B2 1990-Up
- Forward Clutch K1 1990-E1994 or L1994-Up
- Forward Retainer L1994-Up
- Reverse Clutch K2 1990-Up
- Lw Reverse B1 1990-Up

If you are not sure which transmission you have you can go to the drivers side door (most vehicles) and search for the manufacturing date. Other wise once the transmission is disassembled you can count the number of pistons and order accordingly.

New Rebuild Kit Announcements

We are proud to announce the following kits to our comprehensive line of transmission parts.

The Honda MHTA used in the Insight. For this CVT we carry the Overhaul, Banner and Master Kits.

The Mitsubishi F1C1A CVT used in the Lancer, Colt and Colt Plus. Master, Banner, Overhaul Kit and Filter are the most common parts sold for this unit.

Last and definitely not the least, the GM 6L80E (MYC) and 6L90E (MYD). This is the only traditional transmission from the three in this posting and is a 6 speed automatic unit. The kits cover both the 6L80E and the 6L90E and 2Wd & 4Wd versions.

For this unit we currently have the the rebuild kits with and without pistons, piston kit, friction module, steel module, filter, and pump and extension housing bushings.

Some of the vehicles equipped with this unit are: Cadillac STS-V, XLR-V, Escalade; GMC Sierra, Denali; Pontiac G8 GT; Hummer H2.

The Oh So Many Parts Of The L-3N71B

The L3N71B (with Lock-Up) and the 3N71B (no Lock-Up) is Nissan 3 speed automatic transmission by Nissan, Ford, and Mazda (more information below on models). Depending on on model and or year the servo can be inside or outside of the unit. Repair or rebuild kits come with the necessary part in order to accommodate both versions (combo kit).

On this posting we will add pictures of the different parts available for this unit with information on the parts.

First up is the bushing kit. The bushing kit is compatible with all models and from 1971-1987. The Washer Kit, which only comes with selective washers, is good for years 1971-1987.

Two modulators are available for this unit. Both are screw-in types with either a .840" or .910" diaphragm.

Ford: Courier 73-83; Granada with 250 6cyl engine 77-83
Nissan: B110, B210, 200SX, 240ZF, 260ZX, 280ZX, 210, 510, 610, 620, 710, 720, 810, Maxima, Pickups with 3Speed Automatics.
Mazda: 616, 618, 626, 808, B2000, B2200, GLC, RX2, RX3, RX4, RX7, Cosmo, Rotary and Pick-ups.
