Muscle Stangs of Miami Mustang Club

We recently met with the Muscle Stangs of Miami and became a sponsor www.musclestangsofmiami.com .

This is truly a unique and active club. So far there has been some activity every weekend and this weekend the members will be proudly displaying their pride and joy side by side with the members of the Antique Automotive Club of America's South Florida Chapter in the 9th Annual Downtown Miami Classic Car Show.

The Car Show will be held February 6th, 2010 on Flagler Street and S.E. 3rd Avenue from 10AM to 3Pm. For those of you that can not make it, not to worry, we will be posting pictures of some of the vehicles on display at the show.

The president of the Club, Luis, and the vice-president, Andy, are greatly committed to the club as well as the other original founders and growing list of members, about 105 strong and growing.

The club is much more that just a bunch of Mustang lovers hanging out. There is a family feel that is strongly encouraged and evident when attending meetings and other functions. Wifes, husbands, kids and friends, with or without an iconic Ford Pony Car, are welcomed and reminded to come back next time.

Membership is a onetime $15.00 and it includes a t-shirt. Registration is as simple as can be; go to their web site and sing up. Once a member you will have access to the forum, event calender, photo gallery and other members.

New Rebuild Kit Announcements

We are proud to announce the following kits to our comprehensive line of transmission parts.

The Honda MHTA used in the Insight. For this CVT we carry the Overhaul, Banner and Master Kits.

The Mitsubishi F1C1A CVT used in the Lancer, Colt and Colt Plus. Master, Banner, Overhaul Kit and Filter are the most common parts sold for this unit.

Last and definitely not the least, the GM 6L80E (MYC) and 6L90E (MYD). This is the only traditional transmission from the three in this posting and is a 6 speed automatic unit. The kits cover both the 6L80E and the 6L90E and 2Wd & 4Wd versions.

For this unit we currently have the the rebuild kits with and without pistons, piston kit, friction module, steel module, filter, and pump and extension housing bushings.

Garry from Illinois sent us this Picture of his 3000 GT Spiders

Garry purchased two W6MG1 Synchro, Bearing, Gasket and Seal Kit for his all wheel drive (AWD) Mitsubishi 3000Gt. The Dodge Stealth and the 3000 GT share the same transmission for the same years.

The W5MG1 (5 Speed AWD) was used from 1990-1993 and the W6MG1 (Speed AWD) was used from 1993 to 1999 in the 3.0L.

Seal-E-Zee Molded Piston Installation Tool

The Seal-E-Zee is a tool consisting of 6 cones and lubricants manufactured by Lube Guard. It is used to install lip-seals and molded pistons. Can be purchased as a kit or just the cones or the lubricant sprays as a set. The starter kit, pictured below, contains 6 cones, one Step-One spray, one Step-Two X-Treme spray, Demo CD and Product Sheet.

Seal-E-Zee prepares the rubber material for quick installation. Works well with all types of rubber and will not harm the rubber (o-rings, valve body end caps, teflon, seals...). Can be used in other industries.

AW 80/81-40LE and U440E / U441E Automatic Rebuild Kit Announcement

We are pleased to announce the release of the Aisin Warner AW80-40LE, AW81-40LE, U440E and U441E rebuild kit. This is an automatic front wheel drive 4 speed transmission.

This is a small box manufactured primarily for vehicles with engine sizes between 1.2 and 1.6 liters. The AW designation are for vehicles other than Toyota and the U440 series refer primarily for Toyota vehicles. Even though there are some differences in the AW series and the U440 series they are pretty much the same transmission and the kits accommodate both versions.

TR60SN - O9D Automatic Rebuild Kit Announcement

We are pleased to announce the release of the Aisin Warner TR60-SN rebuild kit. This unit is knows as the O9D in the Audi and Volkswagen. This is an automatic 6 speed rear drive unit. It is used in combination with a transfer case for all wheel drive application in some vehicles like the Audi Q7 and VW Touareg.

Z-Pack Clutches

Z-Pack Single Sided Clutch System is a product developed and manufactured by Raybestos Powertrain. The Z-Pack reduces heat in the clutch pack and with its design improvements and X-32 friction material, also developed by Raybestos, reduces coning or warping. As a result, torque capacity, transmission life and clutch life are all improved. Another benefit might come in the way of a lighter clutch pack due to the single sided design.

We carry the Z-Pack for the Chevy 700R4, 4L60E, 4L80E, 4T60E and others. For the Ford the E4OD, 4R100 and others.

External Transmission Coolers

A transmission cooler can be a crucial component to help the life of your transmission. The transmission cooler works under the same principle as the radiator for the engine in your vehicle; it helps regulate temperature. The difference between the two is that the radiator uses radiator fluid that flows into and out of the engine and transmission fluid travels to and from the cooler.

Some vehicles come equipped with a transmission cooler as part of the radiator or as a separate part. Heavy duty pickups or vehicles equipped with towing packages usually have a separate external transmission cooler like the one pictured below.

It is suggested to install an external cooler if you tow boats or trailers, live in a hilly or mountains area, use your vehicle in an extreme area or in an extreme or recreational way (racing, mudding, off-road) or live in a particularly hot climate. Even if the above does not fall in your category it might still be a great idea installing an external cooler. Buses, coaches, semi trucks, heavy or industrial machinery and mobile or motor homes should have external coolers too.

External coolers come in different sizez and for different gross vehicle weight (gvw) from 12,000 to 30,000 gvw. An external cooler can extend the life of the transmission and transmission fluid, guard against premature and or costly repairs and protects against burnouts and boilovers.

We offer Hayden, Hayden Transaver Plus, Hayden Allison AT540 HD, Tru Cool High Efficiency, and Tru Cool Low Pressure and Heavy Duty Recreational and Industrial specific external transmission coolers. The one pictured below is a Hayden 16,000 gvw and measures 15 1/2 x 5 x 3/4" inch.

Greg from Lapeer Michigan (New Process 261 Heavy Duty)

Greg from Lapeer Michigan sent us this picture of one of the trucks he drives to battle the snow with. He ordered a rebuild kit, pump assembly, mode fork, range fork and the rear case half for his NP 261 HD for the GM pickup he drives.

The case is light weight due to the magnesium alloy used to make them. The rear case half are virtually identical between the NP261HD and the NP261XHD with the exception of the tail housing diameter. Possible casting number for the HD is 30605 and for the XHD is 25909. The rear case half for the NP263HD and the NP236XHD are the same.

The XHD models are used behind an Allison transmission and have a 31 spline output. The HD are behind the Hydromatics (i.e. 4L60E, 4L80E) and have the 32 spline output.

Automatic Transmission Fluid

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is a vital component of every automatic transmission. We recommend a high quality synthetic fluid; we recommend Amsoil.

Here is why:

Torque Converter Identification

Proper torque converter identification is important in order to obtain the correct configuration. In some cases other converters might fit and work but you might not be receiving the full benefits.

In some cases the year, make, model and engine size might sufficient for identifying the converter. In most instances the best way to accomplish this is by the codes on the converter.

Torque Converter Codes can be stamped, engraved or inked on the converter. Stickers or paint swabs are also used in identifying the converter.
