The ZF-6HP19 and the ZF-6HP21 are a 6 speed automatic transmission manufactured by the German gear box maker Friedrichshafen AG.

The trans codes starts with:

6HP19 Series: 1071 010 XXX
6HP21 Series: 1070 030 XXX

This unit is used by:
BMW and is designated as the A5S325Z
Audi and Volkswagen is designated as the 09L (All Wheel Drive Version is the ZF6HP19A)

BTR Line of Transmissions for Europe, Australia and Asia

Not Going Far Due to a Bad Valve Body? (41TE)

The A604 family of transmission is used in a wide variety of vehicles and for many years proving to be one of Chryslers' most successful 4 speed automatic front wheel drive transmission. Some of the vehicles equipped with this unit are: Acclaim, the Caravan mini vans, Dynasty, the Voyager mini vans and a few others.

The A606 was used in vehicles like the Intrepid and New Yorker. The 42RLE is the rear wheel drive version of the A606 and can be found in the Durango and Dakota Pickup.

The S531 is a standard or manual transmission manufactured by ZF and used primarily by BMW.

We will discuss the different kits and the component of each that are available for this unit. The numbers listed are the most common. We do carry parts other than the ones listed and for other gearboxes not listed. Since there is a long list of transmission part numbers, that is the number on the tag on the transmission itself, not all will be listed here. The best way to order kits and parts is to have the transmission tag information ready when ordering.

Need A New Drum For The 5HP18?

Sometimes its unavoidable and you will need to replace a drum, or cylinder as it is known in ZF world, for your ZF automatic transmission. Probably the most common replaced drum in the ZF5HP18 are the "D" and "F" drums. The D drum functions as the center support.

We will list the different drums, part numbers and most common transmission codes used with the part number. The assemblies usually comes with the drum, o-ring, cup spring, oil dam, snap ring, piston, spring clutch disc, steels, frictions and end plate.

To Solenoid or Not To Solenoid; ZF6HP26

Why the title you ask? Well its quite simple. When originally released by ZF the 6HP26 solenoids where only going to be available as a complete unit with the valve body known as the Mechatronic.

The solenoid pictures to the right is a blue capped one and is part number 0501 213 959. If you need a solenoid for your 6HP26 please let us know the color of the cap, the location in the valve body and the color of the ones on either side.

In this post we will discuss the electrical part of the the A518, also known as the 46RH and 46RE.

These parts are very important to any electronically controlled transmission and should be inspected carefully when conducting a rebuild or when dropping the valve body.
