8 Speed Automatics From Aisin

Aisin Warner comes out with what seems to be a first in the automatic transmission industry, an 8 speed unit.

The TL-80SN is branded by Aisin as the worlds first high performance 8 speed for luxury vehicles. This unit is used in the Lexus GS460, IS F, LS460 and is know as the AA80E. The TL-80NF is a high torque all wheel drive unit also developed for luxury and off road vehicles.

Aisin claims on there website that this unit is fuel efficient, quite and uses engine torque efficiently. Both units where developed jointly with Toyota.
