If your transfer case has failed due to lack of fluid and you can not figure out from where check the pump for pinholes. In some instances the pump might leak very slowly and by the time you notice something wrong with the unit it might be to late.
Most of my clients that order parts to rebuild the NP271 and NP273 usually end up ordering a new pump in addition to the other parts that might be required for the re-build.
