Torque Converter Identification

Proper torque converter identification is important in order to obtain the correct configuration. In some cases other converters might fit and work but you might not be receiving the full benefits.

In some cases the year, make, model and engine size might sufficient for identifying the converter. In most instances the best way to accomplish this is by the codes on the converter.

Torque Converter Codes can be stamped, engraved or inked on the converter. Stickers or paint swabs are also used in identifying the converter.

Geo Chevy Tracker Transfer Case Chain

The Geo Tracker's transfer case chain from 1996 and Up is 1.00" inch wide, 68 pitches and the pitches are 3/8" wide and 34 links.

The chain could have a round pin design from 1988 and up or a rocker pin design from August of 1996 and up. This chain is also applicable with the Suzuki Side Kick and Vitara from 88 - Up.

New Process Mode Fork

The Mode Fork with the casting number 28624 is used in the NP-261, NP261XHD, NP-263, NP263XHD. This fork is made from aluminum and has a reference number of 27756.

As you can see in the pictures below the inserts or fork pads are molded right on to the forks.

A4LD Pump

The A4LD is a 4 speed rear wheel drive transmission used by Ford vehicles.

    Aerostar from 1985 to 1995
    Bronco II from 1984 to 1990
    Explorer from 1991 to 1994
    Ranger from 1985 to 1994
    Merkur Scorpio 1987 to 1989

The pump for the A4LD has the gears on the stator side as illustrated in the pictures below.

The pump from 1985 to 1987 comes with 6mm hex head bolts. From 1988 to 1995 the pump has 8mm allen head bolts with a cast stator shaft or a steel stator shaft.

Separator plate is included when you purchase this part.

The picture below is the 1985 to 1987 pump; all three pictures is the same part from different angles.

GM Muncie Manual Transmission

The three speed rear wheel drive standard gear box Muncie was used in several of the General Motors vehicles.

Three of the Muncie models:

318 is a light duty version with out overdrive and a 4 bolt side cover.

319 is a light duty version with overdrive and a 4 bolt side cover.

330 is a heavy duty with a 7 bolt side cover.

Mercedes Benz BW4409 Transfer Case Chain

The Mercedes Benz ML320 from 1997 and up with the Borg Warner BW-4409 Transfer Case uses a 1.50 inch wide, with 70 pitches at a distance of 7/16" from the center to center of any two rocker pins. (35 links)

Acura Manual Transmission K4A6

The K4A6 is a 5 speed front wheel drive manual gearbox unit used in the Acura Legend from 1991 to 1995 with the 3.2 liter engine.

The Legend, depending on year and engine size uses a different model gear box. For proper identification please locate the tag on the gearbox.

259 Ford Manual Transmission

The Ford Standard Gearbox Model 259 is a 3 speed rear wheel drive transmission with a 9 bolt rectangular side cover.

This unit is available with and without an overdrive and is used by several Ford models with the 3 speed.

A390 Dodge Manual Transmission

The A-390 is a 3 speed rear wheel drive (RWD) standard gearbox used in the Trail Blazer from 1975 to 1980 with 318 and the 360 cubic inch engine. It is also used in passenger cars from 1974 to 1976. This is the unit with the Tremec Design.

KM200 Standard Transmission

The KM-200 manual gearbox is a 4 speed front wheel drive used in Mitsubishi and Hyundai vehicles.

Mitsubishi:
    Mirage from 1986 to 1992 with the 1.5 liter engine.

    Precis from 1989 to 1994 with the 1.5 liter engine.

Hyundai:
    Excel from 1989 to 1994 with the 1.5 liter engine; came with a 7 bolt rear cover.

E52 Toyota Manual Transmissin

The E52 is a 5 speed front wheel drive standard manual gear box. The E-52 is used in the:

Lexus ES250, ES300 from 1990 to 1993 with the 2.5 and 3.0 liter engines.


It is also used in the Toyota Solara:

From 1988 to 1991 with the 2.5 liter engine.

From 1992 to 1993 with the 3.0 liter engine and 3 piece 2nd, 3rd, and 5th synchros.

From 1993 to 1999 with the 3.0 liter engine and 1 piece 3rd and 3 piece 2nd and 5th synchros.

From 2000 to 2001 with the 3.0 liter engine and all 1 piece synchros.

T14 Standard Transmission

The T-14 manual gear box is a 3 speed rear wheel drive transmission. Casting numbers are T14 or 1302 depending on application.

This unit was used in the:

AMC and Eagle from 1968 to 1976

AMC and Eagle with overdrive from 1968 to 1976

Jeep from 1967 to 1975

Daewoo equipped with BW4408 Transfer Case Chain

The Daewoo (Sang Yang) equipped with the Borg Warner Gear 4408 transfer case uses a chain that is 1.25" inch wide, with 62 pitches at half inch apart, 31 links and a round pin design.

Volkswagen VW 020 Manual Transmission

The Volkswagen VW020 is a 5 speed front wheel drive manual gear box with an aluminum rear cover used from 1984 and up.

There is a 4 speed version of the 020 as well. 5 speed version come with a 25mm or with a 26mm rear input bearing and a 30mm OD caged roller input bearing.

A 5 speed with the 32mm OD caged roller input bearing and a 26mm rear input bearing is also an option.

Some of the vehicles that came with this unit was the Jetta and Rabbit.

Infiniti RS5 F32A Standard Transmission

The R55-F32A is a front wheel drive (FWD) 5 speed manual transmission. This unit is used in the Infiniti G20 from 1991 to 2002 in the 2.0 liter engine.

There is a non-posi differential and a posi differential version. When ordering the rebuild kit this information is needed.
