Pressure Regulator Kit For The ZF-6HP26

The ZF6HP26 is the six speed transmission used by many car manufactures including Ford, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW and Land Rover to name a few.

Now that this unit has been on the market for a few years there are more and more inquires for parts, including solenoids and related parts. The valve body is this unit is known as the Mechatronic.

The valve body comes in different variation thus the solenoid kits also come in different variations depending on the vehicle. The best way to identify the correct kit, or any part for the transmission, is through the tag numbers. This will allow to properly identify the parts needed.

Below is a picture of a solenoid kit for the model number 1068 010 034. If you would like more information on how to determine the model number for your ZF unit please search this blog for the term "ZF Tag" and scroll down until you see the postings for tag identification.

To Solenoid or Not To Solenoid; ZF6HP26

Why the title you ask? Well its quite simple. When originally released by ZF the 6HP26 solenoids where only going to be available as a complete unit with the valve body known as the Mechatronic.

The solenoid pictures to the right is a blue capped one and is part number 0501 213 959. If you need a solenoid for your 6HP26 please let us know the color of the cap, the location in the valve body and the color of the ones on either side.

GM Daewoo ZF Transmissions

Where can I get parts for my GM Daewoo ZF transmission?

This is a common question when dealing with the ZF transmission used in some of the GM Daewoos. From what I know (from research and speaking with ZF) and what I have heard from colleagues and customers ZF does not officially offer any parts for these units. Parts are only avaialbe from the dealer or aftermarket if any. We do offer the rebuild kits, filter and other parts for these units and hope to offer more parts soon.

The tag is different compared to a regular ZF tag. A regular ZF tag will have a Stueckl number (1068 010 045) as you can see in the tag to the right which the one to the left does not have. This is the first indication that ZF might not suppourt a particular unit. Another indication you will notice is the tag on the left says "Licensed by ZF". At any rate the tag information is very important when ordering parts for your ZF trans.

How to Identify the Part Number of My ZF Transmission?

A very common question when a client orders specific transmission parts for the ZF I usually ask them for the year, make, model, vin number of the vehicle and the part number of the transmission. Then the question is where is the part number at? The number is a 10 digit number on the tag of the transmission.

The tag is either attached to the main housing or as part of the casting of the main housing like in the picture below. In this tag the first line is the serial number, the second number the part number of the transmission and the third number down is the model number (ZF6HP26).

The number needed is the part number which usual is 10 digits. In this case the part number is 1068 010 045. This number enables us to determine the correct parts for this particular unit. For example the ZF4HP20 has about 6 different part numbers for solenoid kits. With the 10 digit part number off the tag of the transmission the right one can be selected and you receive the right part the first time.

This is the reason why it is so important to have this information. The more information available the better it ensures that you receive the right part the first time.

Notice of New Rebuild Kits and Parts for the CFT23

We are proud to announce the introduction of our newest electronically controoled CVT rebuild kits and parts for the ZF CFT23. This unit is used in the 2002 - 2007 Ford Focus C-Max Diesel primarily used in Europe for front wheel drive and all wheel drive applications.

ZF put the CFT23 through real world testing in Europe and a fleet of vehicles in the US before officially launching it back in 2002. A major difference between the VT1F (used in the Mini Copper CVT16Z) and the CFT23 is that the CFT23 uses a torque converter.

As of the date of this posting we carry the Master, Banner and Overhaul Kits as well as the filter and pump bushing.

ZFs 4 Speed Automatic, the 4HP14

In addition to the other vehicles listed in other posts in this blog the ZF4HP14 was also used in the Citroen Xantia.

The filter and brake band are good for all years of the unit. The filter is also shared with the 4HP18 is some of its versions. The filter is made of lightweight plastic with a plastic like screen material. The brake band is small and light too. Brake bands are unusual in ZF units as only a few units use them from the ZFs automatic gear box lineup.
