How do I know the model number of my NP Transfer Gearcase?
Identifying your New Process Transfer Case.
Your New Process Transfer Box has a label or tag like the one illustrated here with the model number on the top. The assembly number followed by the serial number and the ratio on the bottom of the tag.
For proper identification purposes the model number is the one you will need. In some instances you will need the other information.

New Process Gear Transfer Case NP-200, NP-201, NP-202
The New Process Gear 200, 201, 202 transfer case's are used by Dodge pickups from 1956 to 1968. In order to know which model is in you truck you need locate the tag and identify the model number.
As you can see in the picture the tag is round and the model number is located at the very top of the tag.

NP 261 Range Fork and Mode Forks and Pads
Fork inserts, pads and shoes refer all to the same thing. It is a plastic that is inserted on the fork itself as you can see on the picture.
The New Process NP-261 come with the fork pads already molded on the fork itself. The picture is that of a NP261 range fork.
If your range fork or mode fork for your 261 transfer case gear box need replacing you will need to order the whole fork. Both forks come with the pad already molded on them and the pads are not available separately.
The casting number for the New Process Gear 261 Range Fork is 17833. And the casting number for the Mode Fork is 28624. All picture illustrated in this post are those of a Range Fork for an NP261.

The NP149 transfer gear case is used in the GM Chevy pickup 1500, 2500 and 3500 models from 2003 and up.
The NP 149 is also used in the Avalanche, Cadillac Escalade, Tahoe, Yukon and Suburban from 2003 and up.
NP-149 uses a 1.25 inch wide chain by 49 links for Ford.

The NP203 transfer gear case is used in the GM Chevy pickup 1500, 2500 and 3500 models from 1973 to 1979 and in the Blazer, Jimmy, and Suburban from 1973 to 1979.
Ford equipped the F-150, F-250 and F-350 direct mount from 1972 to 1979 and the F150, F250, F350 remote mount from 1972 to 1975 with the 203.
This unit is used in the Dodge Pickups from 1973 to 1979. This includes the quarter ton, half ton and one ton pickup models.
