The WG-4404 gear box is used in the Ford Explorer SUV from 1996 to 2000 with the V-8 engine and torque on demand (TOD) and in the Mercury Mountaineer SUV from 1996 to 2001 with the V-8 engine and torque on demand (TOD).

This gearbox has a casting number of 44-04 and uses a 1.25 inch wide by 37 link rocker pin design chain and one blue link up to 1997. From 1998 to 2000 it uses a 1.25 inch wide by 37 link rocker pin design chain with two blue links.
